Breakthrough - Your gateway to the world of employment

Incorporating young people into non-formal education work has a broad and far-reaching impact on future generations.

The Economic-Social Challenge

Employment data in Israeli society indicates a significantly low rate of young Arab men and women who are either studying or employed in stable frameworks. The percentage of young Arab individuals not engaged in any employment, education, leisure, or other activities is approximately 30.4%, compared to the OECD average of 14.3%.

Given these high numbers and the implications of the COVID-19 pandemic that exacerbated the impact on young individuals, the “Zrua HaAvoda” (Workforce) arm is working on developing programs to integrate young Arab people into the job market. These programs provide training, strengthening of soft skills, and professional tools to improve their employability and social capabilities, assisting them during the transition period after completing their studies and as they prepare to integrate into society, academia, and employment.

In line with the government’s policy in Israel, there is a connection between the lack of occupational structure among young people in the Arab society and the increasing level of violence.

Our Solution

Professional training for facilitating group work and community engagement in the employment of young individuals from the Arab society. Acquisition of required professional skills, employability development, and integration into non-formal education and training professions. The impact on future generations through placing graduates in work within the community.

The Program

  • 75 hours of group facilitation course, including employability development, leadership, digital literacy, and Hebrew language learning.
  • 30 hours of practicum in schools and community centers.
  • 40 hours of personal guidance, supervision, and peer dialogue.
  • 80 hours of Hebrew language learning and digital orientation.
  • Total of 237 hours per participant.

The program’s innovation is based on two axes:

  1. Participants: A program for personal empowerment and skill development for quality employment in a changing world. Today’s youth need life skills for tomorrow’s challenges. Combining employment and the arts offers a creative opportunity to learn essential skills for success in a versatile career field with diverse options that conventional training does not provide.
  2. Future Mentors: Through the work of the program’s graduates within the community, they become partners in shaping future generations within the environment and community they live in, reducing long-term disparities.
